GENERAL INFORMATION

Food industry of Rivne region is mainly based on the own sources of raw materials. Sugar industry, meat industry, butter and cheese industry, flour-and-cereals industry, baking industry and vegetable processing industry are most developed. Since 2011 food industry demonstrates decline (Figure 1).

The biggest decline was recorded in 2013 - food industry production was 76.1% of this rate in 2012. Generally in Ukraine this rate was 94.9%. Food industry production resulted in 3.2% decline in 2014.


In 2010-2014 dynamics of products sold in food industry was diverse (Figure 2). This rate reached its peak of 3 billion UAH in 2013. Meanwhile, the biggest share of food industry output was 21.2% of total industrial output in 2010.

During the period under review, share of food industry output in industrial production declined by 7.6 percentage points - from 21.2% in 2010 to 13.7% in 2014.


Flour, bakery, pasta and dairy products are the main products in food industry in Rivne region (Table 1).

Production of milk, butter, macaroni products and nonalcoholic beverages increased by 22.7%, 33.7%, 20.5% and 10.8% respectively in 2014 as compared to 2013.


EXPORT AND IMPORT OF PRODUCTS

Share of finished food product export in total product export was only 1.5% in January-November 2014.

Products of processed vegetables and fruits and cocoa products were the main articles of export – 1.7 US $ million (24.2% of total finished food products export) and 1.5 US $ million (22.5%) respectively.


Finished food industry products made up 1% of import to Rivne region in January-November 2014.

Products of processed vegetables and fruits was the main article of import for this period and totaled 0.8 US $ million (31.6% of total finished food products import).


Thus, for January-November 2014 foreign trade surplus made up 4.2 US $ million in finished food industry.

Public JSC «Polissiahlib», Public JSC «Rivne confectionery», Public JSC «Riven», Public JSC «Dubnomoloko», LLC «Bimol», LLC «Radyvylivmoloko», JSC  «Rodyna», sole trader «Kostopil margarine plant», LLC «Vodogray», Public JSC «Goscha food product plant», LLC «Mlyniv meat-processing plant» and LLC «Ostroh mineral water plant» are the biggest food industry enterprises in Rivne region.
